Band students from Langston University traveled to New Orleans during Mardi Gras.”We’ve been in Montgomery, Alabama, we left from there, to Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and then Homer, so that’s four cities,” stated Mark Gordon, director of bands at Langston.Band students have been on a marathon of performances within the final week, having performed in competitions and parades in 4 cities since Thursday.”We did the battle of the bands, which was Saturday, and then from there, we left that Saturday night, and came down here to Baton Rouge, checked into our hotel, and did three parades,” Gordon stated.They’ve had to prepare to do it too. The highway journey began with the Honda Battle of the Bands in Montgomery.”The big thing about parades is they have to work on endurance, so when I say endurance, we had to do a lot of laps around the track, and marching the campus,” Gordon stated.The band was additionally in New Orleans during Mardi Gras after the Battle of the Bands was moved again this 12 months.”It just fell the same weekend. They moved everything so it just fell right.
