Mokelumne River, Lodi, Calif., $39
This Rhône-style mix of cinsaut, zinfandel and carignan hails from the Mokelumne River AVA of Lodi. The zinfandel offers it a decidedly juicy American accessory. The savory flavors and velvety texture name for hearty foods, equivalent to a Thanksgiving dinner. Marchelle is the latest label from winemaker Greg La Follette. The line contains a chardonnay ($45) and a pinot noir ($65). All are exceptional. ABV: 14.6 p.c. BW: 585 grams (Average).
