American Airlines get pay tripled after flights glitch

DALLAS — After a pc glitch left 1000’s of American Airlines flights with out pilots to fly them by the tip of July, the Fort Worth-based airline will now pay its pilots triple their regular wages so as to add affected flights to their schedules. 

The Allied Pilots Association union said Wednesday that its board ratified an agreement with American Airlines, which incorporates further pay for the journeys affected by the glitch. 

In an announcement over the weekend, American Airlines confirmed there was a technical challenge with the corporate’s “pilot trip trading system” that allowed pilots to drop their scheduled flights.

“As a result of this technical glitch, certain trip trading transactions were able to be processed when it shouldn’t have been permitted,” the assertion learn.

According to a report from ABC News, the American Airlines pilots’ union mentioned the problem affected a minimum of 12,000 flights from July 3 by the tip of the month.

In their assertion, the airline mentioned: “We already have restored the vast majority of the affected trips and do not anticipate any operational impact because of this issue.”

American Airlines didn’t specify what number of flights had been affected by the glitch.

In the APA letter, the union mentioned pilots “who had trips placed on their schedules as a result of the snafu should fly those trips.”

“Pilots who still desire to drop or trade these trips may do so using normal trip-trading tools. The pilot who actually flies the sequence will receive the 200% premium,” the letter reads. “The APA Scheduling Committee will be posting a full list of the sequence numbers that carry the 300% value.”
