ACC expansion: Florida State, Clemson among four schools opposed to adding Stanford, Cal

Cal and Stanford’s bid to sign up for the ACC seems to have stalled.  North Carolina, NC State, Florida State and Clemson are opposed to enlargement with invitations to Cal and Stanford, CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander reports.

Without the toughen of the ones schools, the problem could be useless within the water. Adding a brand new member will require approval from 12 of the 15 ACC member schools. Sports Illustrated studies. 

Cal and Stanford are two of four ultimate Pac-12 schools, at the side of Oregon State and Washington State. The Pac-12 has continuously tired club over the past years, and issues reached a head in July. 

With USC and UCLA set to leave for the Big Ten in 2024, Colorado introduced only a couple weeks in the past that it is going to leave for the Big 12 in the similar time period. Shortly thereafter, Arizona, Arizona State and Utah all made the verdict to apply the Buffaloes to the Big 12. 

Washington and Oregon reputedly put the nail within the Pac-12’s coffin on Aug. 4, after they introduced that they’d sign up for the Big Ten. 

The ultimate Pac-12 schools may discover a house within the American Athletic Conference, in accordance to more than one studies. The Mountain West Conference, which is sensible from a geographic point of view, hasn’t shot down the possibility of enlargement.
