HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. — Two kidnapped children who had been lacking from Missouri for nearly a yr have been found in a central Florida grocery retailer with their non-custodial mom, who was taken into police custody, authorities said.
Kristi Gilley was arrested final Wednesday on an out-of-state fugitive warrant. Court data present Gilley, 36, remained in jail on Sunday.
High Springs cops found Gilley and the 2 children in a Winn Dixie supermarket after operating a routine automobile tag verify that indicated the automobile’s proprietor was a fugitive, the High Springs Police Department stated in a news launch. High Springs is situated about 22 miles northwest of Gainesville, Florida.
The children had been lacking from Clay County, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, since final March.Â
The High Springs Police Department stated the children have been turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families and can be reunited with relations in Missouri.
Gilley’s court-appointed lawyer from the native public defender’s workplace did not reply to an emailed inquiry on Sunday.
