Prosecutors in western Mexico stated Wednesday they found eight people dead with gunshot wounds.
The our bodies have been found Wednesday in the township of Tuzantla, in the state of Michoacan, near the wintering grounds of the monarch butterfly.
Michoacan state prosecutors said they found shell casings on the scene, and have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the killings. The our bodies have been present process autopsies, they stated.
Michoacan has been riven for years by bloody turf wars amongst drug cartels, and there was no fast indication the killings had something to do with the monarch butterfly reserve.
Monarch butterflies migrate yearly from the United States and Canada to spend the winter in the mountaintop pine and fir forests west of Mexico City.
The butterflies, recognized for his or her brilliant orange and noticed wings spectacularly filling the sky on a virtually 2,500-mile journey yearly, are actually “closer to the brink” of extinction, the International Union for Conservation of Nature stated final month.
