71-year-old Florida man killed by falling tree limb, deputies say


DELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man died Monday after he was crushed by a tree limb in Deland, deputies mentioned.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office mentioned a groundskeeper at a trailer park — recognized as Gary Clancy, 71, of DeLeon Springs — was chopping down bushes in a area on the time of the incident.

A resident at a trailer park mentioned she heard Clancy’s chainsaw idling however didn’t see him, so she went to test it out. That’s when she discovered the man pinned beneath a big tree limb.

The sheriff’s workplace mentioned the lady started screaming for assist. Other residents arrived and lifted the tree limb off of Clancy and gave him CPR, however he didn’t survive.

According to deputies, the demise was unintentional.
