MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – Bahamian officers have confirmed the deaths of three U.S. vacationers at a resort within the Bahamas after they fell unwell. Another vacationer needed to be airlifted to a hospital for remedy.
Acting Prime Minister Chester Cooper issued a press release Friday saying that police are investigating and the reason for loss of life was unknown, although foul play “is not suspected.”

Their identities weren’t initially made public.
The well being minister, Dr. Michael Darville, instructed Eyewitness News Bahamas on Saturday that some lodge visitors went to a clinic Thursday with nausea and vomiting, had been handled and left. Three had been later discovered useless. A fourth was flown to a hospital in New Providence.
He stated the environmental well being scientists, physicians and others had been investigating to make sure there was not a public well being hazard.
“We feel that what we are seeing is an isolated case associated in a particular area,” he stated, including that investigators are doing toxicology and blood exams to assist decide the reason for the sickness.

Cooper was filling in for Prime Minister Philip E. Davis, who was overseas.
The head of communications for the prime minister’s workplace, Latrae L. Rahming, tweeted that the deaths occurred at Sandals Emerald Bay in Exuma.
In a press release to People Magazine, a consultant for Sandals confirmed the deaths and stated the corporate was “actively working to support both the investigation as well as the guests’ families in every way possible.”
There was no rapid additional response to an Associated Press inquiry to the lodge firm on Saturday.
