3 maps to help you through Northern California winter storms


More than 50 flights have already been canceled at Sacramento International Airport.

CALIFORNIA, USA — A winter storm moved into the Sacramento area Tuesday morning bringing rain, excessive winds and snow to the Sierra.

The programs come after a dry spell that adopted a moist begin to November. The chilly, moist storms will soak the valley and produce ft of mountain snow within the coming days.

As of seven:30 a.m Tuesday morning, Caltrans and CHP issued chain controls for:

As of seven:30 a.m., there have not been any main ongoing energy outages reported by SMUD.    PG&E is reporting sporadic outages with the Grass Valley and Nevada City areas having essentially the most.

Through Thursday, this storm will carry rain, heavy mountain snow and gusty winds. Snowfall quantities of 1 to 3 ft are anticipated within the mountains, domestically up to 4 ft, in accordance to the National Weather Service.
