DELAND, Fla. – Three people were killed early Sunday morning in Volusia County after they were struck by a suspected wrong-way driver, who then drove away from the crash site, Florida Highway Patrol said.
FHP said the driver of a gray Toyota Tacoma was traveling the wrong way on State Route 44 in Deland, Florida, around 2:20 a.m. and crashed head-on with a Black Infinity Q50, killing three people inside.
After the crash, a Toyota Prius collided with the Tacoma. A fourth car, a Lexus ES, managed to avoid crashing into the other vehicles, but did drive through the debris, FHP said.
No one else was seriously injured, according to FHP.
A police K-9 tried to find the driver of the Tacoma, but was unable to find him or her, FHP said.
