Many skilled athletes from different sports activities take pleasure in hitting the hyperlinks and having fun with a spherical of golf of their spare time. Former MLB star Johnny Damon is not any completely different.
On Friday, former MLB star Johnny Damon joined CBS Sports on the 2023 PGA Show and talked about his love for the game of golf, and how that love grew while he was playing baseball professionally.
“Well, I can’t play baseball forever and hopefully I can play golf for a long time,” Damon stated. “I simply benefit from the camaraderie with the blokes as a result of we had it for thus a few years with the blokes once I was playing baseball. And now it is on the golf course. We exit and have as a lot enjoyable as we will.
“I know a lot of people take this game seriously. I will never. I always want to do good, I always want to have fun. I’m not getting paid to play this game, so I want to have as much as fun as possible.”
Damon defined that he started playing golf throughout his time with the Kansas City Royals within the early phases of his baseball profession. He by no means had a ton of possibilities to play throughout the season, although. Instead, he would play golf throughout spring coaching, extra so when he was with the Boston Red Sox as a longtime veteran, with out having the stress of getting to make the ball membership.
Damon performed 18 seasons within the majors, splitting time between the Royals, Red Sox, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland. He retired from the game again in 2012.
