NEWTOWN, Conn. — A tractor-trailer wearing 44 dairy cows crashed on a Connecticut freeway go out ramp early Thursday, killing 8 of the animals straight away whilst every other six needed to be euthanized as a result of their accidents, state police and agriculture officers mentioned.
Police and firefighters answered to the damage on an go out off Interstate 84 westbound in Newtown at about 3:30 a.m. and located the truck tipped over at the motive force’s facet. The motive force was once no longer severely injured, firefighters mentioned.
Authorities summoned a state veterinarian, who made up our minds six different cows had to be put down. State soldiers euthanized the animals on the scene, police mentioned.
The ultimate 30 cows have been doing smartly after having been loaded onto every other truck and brought to a veterinarian for analysis, the state Department of Agriculture mentioned.
It wasn’t straight away transparent what brought about the crash. State police have been investigating.
The truck was once transporting the cows from Maine to Ohio, state agriculture officers mentioned. There is a 24-hour diner and fuel station off Exit 10, which has a ramp with a pointy curve.
State police closed the westbound facet of the freeway for a number of hours.
