Officials mentioned the suspected shooter — an 18-year-old Uvalde resident — was killed after 1 p.m. Tuesday (May 24). It is believed that he was killed by police at the scene.

“It’s believed that he abandoned his vehicle and entered into the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde with a handgun,” Abbott mentioned. “He shot and killed — horrifically, incomprehensively — 14 students and killed a teacher.”

Robb Elementary School has an enrollment of slightly below 600 college students. It’s a part of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.
