A 13-year-old central Washington boy is accused of shooting 5 folks throughout a Cinco de Mayo pageant.
The teen was being held on the Yakima County Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of 5 counts of first-degree assault in reference to the May 6 incident in Sunnyside, The Yakima Herald-Republic reported. His bail was set at $500,000.
The shooting occurred on Friday night time of the three-day pageant, the remainder of which was canceled.
A 35-year-old man was struck in the leg, a 12-year-old boy was hit in the lip and tongue, a 6-year-old woman was hit in the decrease leg, and two boys, ages 16 and 14, had been shot in the legs, in accordance with an affidavit.
Police allege the boy is a gang member. It’s not clear whether or not any of the folks shot have any gang affiliation.
Deputy Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Porter stated the gun the suspect is alleged to have used has but to be discovered and is believed to have been discarded at a grocery retailer in Sunnyside.
A Sunnyside police officer noticed the suspect get picked up by his mom from a grocery retailer after the shooting, the affidavit stated.
