AUSTIN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Transportation will make $250 million in federal funding accessible for sidewalks, bike lanes and different shared paths.
The funding will probably be utilized in an effort to fight the rising variety of pedestrian and bicyclist fatalities, in accordance to a news launch from TxDOT.
TxDOT acknowledged that pedestrian fatalities elevated by 15% in 2021, and bicycle owner fatalities elevated by 14%.
“This funding will help communities plan and build walking and biking infrastructure that could help reduce these incidents,” the discharge acknowledged.
