“Malnourished” teenage twins who escaped from handcuffs at their Texas home prompted an Amber Alert for 5 different siblings who have been deemed protected a day later by authorities in Louisiana, officers stated Tuesday. The twins’ mom and her boyfriend have been in custody.
The Harris County Constable Precinct 5 issued an Amber Alert early Tuesday for the 5 youngsters, ages 7 to 14, based on statements on its Facebook page.
Jeff McShan, a spokesperson for the precinct, stated the incident started when the 16-year-old twins, a boy and a woman, contacted a neighbor Monday and requested to name 911 as a result of that they had escaped from their home the place they “had been handcuffed and held against their will by their mom.”
The siblings stated that they had solely lately moved to the home and didn’t know their tackle, McShan stated.
“It was obvious to us and the fire department that the children were in distress. They had marks on their wrists, pretty deep marks from the handcuffs. They were bruised and malnourished in our eyes,” he stated.
NBC affiliate KPRC of Houston reported the twins have been hospitalized and are within the custody of Child Protective Services.
McShan stated it took authorities a number of hours Monday to find out the home from which the twins had fled. When they arrived there, the youngsters’s mom, Zaikiya Duncan, 40, and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Jova Terrell, had apparently fled with Duncan’s 5 different youngsters, McShan stated.
“The Amber Alert has been lifted or will be lifted shortly. The children were found at a relative’s house and have been deemed safe by the Louisiana State Police. Their mother and mom’s boyfriend are in custody and will be brought back to Harris County,” based on the constable’s workplace.
The constable’s workplace stated it’s recommending costs of damage to a toddler, a first-degree felony, for Duncan and Terrell. It additionally stated the youngsters’s 18-year-old brother could have gone lacking, too.
Duncan and Terrell have been arrested after a visitors cease Tuesday afternoon, Louisiana State Police stated in a press release Wednesday.
