AUSTIN (KXAN) – On Wednesday, the Texas School Safety Center released its statewide intruder detection audits report.
The report is a compilation of information gathered throughout school inspections the place safety specialists confirmed up unannounced at colleges to conduct random, in-person intruder audits at campuses throughout the state.
The audits start on Sept. 12, and so they had been a direct response to the May Robb Elementary School taking pictures in Uvalde.
According to the report, 2,864 campuses had been audited between September and December 2022. Of these campuses,
- 71.6% didn’t have any corrective actions and 28.4% obtained corrective actions.
Of these campuses with corrective actions, 51.4% of corrective actions have been verified as addressed and 48.6% are within the course of of being verified.
According to the report, inspectors at 95.3% of campuses didn’t acquire unauthorized access to the campus.
The campuses had been evaluated in phases, in accordance to the report.
- Phase 1 consisted of whether or not an inspector gained unauthorized access to campus.
- Phase 2 consisted of whether or not a number of points had been discovered with the safety of a number of exterior doorways, equivalent to door/s not secured, not locked, damaged and/or propped open.
- Phase 3 consisted of when a district had a written and/or verbal coverage/directive to lock classroom doorways, any classroom door in a pattern of 8 – 10 doorways was not closed and locked.
- The door sweeps part consisted of whether or not a campus didn’t doc door sweep processes and/or didn’t have documentation of the earlier six weeks’ value of checks on all exterior doorways.
