Oklahoma Tax Commission Says Tribal Citizens Must Pay State Income Tax


Nearly 10,000 tribal residents should pay Oklahoma state revenue taxes in any case.

After the Supreme Court’s Ruling on tribal jurisdiction in 2020, about 9,200 tribal members within the state claimed that the ruling meant that they now not needed to pay state taxes. But the Oklahoma Tax Commission says that ruling solely applies to main crimes and they’re nonetheless required to pay state revenue taxes.

Governor Kevin Stitt’s Office stated the tribal members who claimed the exemptions would have value the state $75 million yearly.
