When the Texas Longhorns outlasted the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday of their 24-21 win, they seemingly received the monkey of not ending video games off of their again. At least for now, that’s, as one recreation just isn’t indicative of a complete shift in tradition or composure.
However, it’s a step ahead for a Longhorns workforce that underneath coach Steve Sarkisian struggled to grasp on to second half leads in 2021. Now, as they hit the street to tackle the Oklahoma State Cowboys, they’re confronted with a possibility to get yet one more monkey off their again.
That monkey? Their incapability to win on the street, with Sarkisian acknowledging simply how onerous profitable on the street might be.
“I think poise and composure is really important on the road,” Sarkisian said. “The crowd is not cheering for you, it’s cheering against you.”
Under Sarkisian, the Longhorns are 1-5 in true street video games, with their lone win coming towards TCU final season. However, this isn’t a uniquely Sarkisian drawback, because the Longhorns have solely crushed two ranked opponents on the street since 2017.
Much like their capability to end video games, beating Oklahoma State on Saturday would not signify an entire shift within the tradition across the workforce. What it represents, although, is a step ahead.
