For months, the Florida Education Department and the College Board have been at loggerheads over instituting a proposed Advanced Placement African American research course for highschool college students.
The state lastly introduced final week that it was rejecting the course, pointing to six areas of concern and works by Kimberlé W. Crenshaw, bell hooks, Angela Davis and different Black authors.
Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. mentioned the subject publicly for the first time at a news conference Monday.
