TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida deputies captured a man accused of raping and mutilating a woman final week.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office obtained a tip from a resident who noticed Bruce Wayne Whitehead, 54, a registered sexual predator. Deputies arrested him and took him to the Orange County Jail.
Whitehead was charged with tried homicide, armed kidnapping, aggravated battery with a lethal weapon, armed theft, and sexual battery with a lethal weapon for what deputies known as a “brutal rape” on Dec. 10.
A woman informed deputies Whitehead approached her whereas she was strolling down the road and supplied her a experience. After stopping at a 7-Eleven and driving to a different location, Whitehead allegedly held a knife to her throat and pressured her out of the automobile.
Further particulars concerning the ‘brutal’ rape have been redacted from the incident report.
Deputies later encountered the woman, who was discovered sporting solely a jacket. They stated the woman “appeared scared and shocked” and described her accidents as “burning.” She informed them she believed Whitehead was going to kill her.
Whitehead was beforehand convicted of kidnapping, armed sexual battery, and first-degree tried homicide in a 1986 case in Jacksonville. He spent 20 years in jail.
