Boy with autism in critical condition after being hit by vehicle



Captain Donald Wine stated the 12-year-old boy has autism and wandered away from his house when he was hit by a vehicle.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the boy was discovered in the roadway round 4 a.m. on Greenhouse Road close to Cy Lakes High School.

Captain Donald Wine with HCSO’s District 4 stated the boy was hit by a vehicle after wandering away from his house. The boy was taken to the hospital and is anticipated to outlive.

Wine stated that the mom referred to as deputies when she could not find her son. Deputies stated the boy has autism and wandered away from house early Monday morning earlier than he was hit by a vehicle.

Gonzalez stated the vehicle that hit the boy fled the scene.
