Lady Buffs Fall to No. 16 in Latest Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs dropped six spots to No. 16 in the newest United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Division II Women’s Poll. The Lady Buffs, 8-1-1 on the season, began Lone Star Conference motion with a 1-0-1 week.
 
After opening convention play with a draw towards Lubbock (*16*), WT rebounded with a hard-fought win over UT Tyler. The Patriots took an early lead, just for the Lady Buffs to reply a minute later. In the second half, UT Tyler scored its second aim, however the lead did not maintain as Asha James tied it again up. In the 66th minute, James discovered Maliyah Mendoza off a nook kick for the game-winning aim.
 
Despite being held scoreless towards the Chaps, James’ efficiency towards the Patriots earned her the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.  James’ 21 factors in 10 matches rank second for the Lady Buffs this season, sitting behind Maria-Frances Serrant’s 26.
 
The high 5 remained the identical aside from Central Missouri and Columbus State switching spots at three and 4. Dallas Baptist sits atop the ballot adopted by Embry-Riddle (Fla.). Central Missouri, Columbus State, and West Chester end the highest 5.
