ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.  — St. Petersburg Police stated an arrest was made in what the division known as the “first homicide of 2022” earlier this 12 months.

Police stated Jaylen Shazell, 22, is charged with first-degree murder over the February dying of Demond Perry, 26.

Perry was shot a number of occasions and crashed his Infiniti on Tyrone Boulevard, close to ninth Avenue North, early on February 12. After the crash, police stated his automobile flipped and caught hearth.

Perry died hours after the crash from his accidents, police stated.

At the time of his dying, police provided a $5,000 reward for information. Police stated his dying was thought of the primary murder in the town in 2022.

Police stated Shazell was concerned in a pursuit of Perry’s automobile round 3 a.m. when he left an area nightclub. Perry’s automobile was shot 24 occasions, police stated.
