Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker mentioned Friday the transfer was voluntary.

Those migrants who resolve to make the journey will obtain meals and providers and be housed in dormitory-type lodging, with separate quarters for households.

Authorities have not mentioned what is going to occur to those that need to keep put. Baker has praised the residents of Martha’s Vineyard for caring for the migrants, who’re largely from Venezuela, however says the island lacks the assets to present long-term care.

DeSantis, a Republican, has mentioned the flights to Martha’s Vineyard are a part of an effort to “transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations.”
