Oklahomans are asking in regards to the morning and night commutes forward of the winter weather.

AND EVERYONE HAS REALLY BEEN ASKING ABOUT IT. WHAT MY MORNING COMMUTE IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE, WHAT MY EVENING COMMUTE IS GOING TO BE. WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THIS EVENT SO CLOSELY AND THE AMOUNT OF SNOW THAT YOU SEE ON THE GRASS IS GOING TO BE SO DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOU SEE ON THE ROADS EACH DAY ON YOU WHERE WE’RE USED TO A FEW WINTER STORM IS THAT COVER THE ROADS AND SNOW AND ICE. TOMORROW, SNOW IS LOOKING SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. THIS SNOW WILL MAINLY BE SLUSHY ON THE ROADS. ONE REASON IS BECAUSE WE HAVEN’T SEEN BITTER ARCTIC TEMPERATURES YET. THE START OF THE YEAR HAS BEEN WARM 21 DAYS IN A ROW WITH TEMPERATURES ABOVE 50 DEGREES. THAT MEANS OUR GROUND IS STILL PRETTY WARM DURING THE DAY. THIS GRAPHIC SHOWS PAVEMENT TEMPERATURES FROM LAST NIGHT IN THE TWENTIES AND THIRTIES. BUT BY THIS AFTERNOON THEY WERE IN THE SIXTIES. IF THIS SNOW MOVED IN OVERNIGHT, ROADS WOULD LOOK DIFFERENT. SNOW THAT FALLS ON COLD SURFACES LIKE THE GRASS OR YOUR CAR WILL STICK. BUT ON THE ROADS THERE IS MORE THAT FACTORS INTO IT. KEEP IN MIND, IF SNOW FALLS FAST ENOUGH AND IS HEAVY ENOUGH, THERE WILL BE SLICK SPOTS. AND I WANT TO BREAK DOWN ONE IMPORTANT THING ABOUT THE ROADS THAT IS OUR BRIDGES AND OUR OVERPASSES. I DO THINK THERE IS A POTENTIAL WITH TOMORROW SNOW FOR THOSE BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES TO GET SLICK. I WANT TO TURN YOUR ATTENTION BEHIND ME HERE. WE HAVE I-35 AND ALMOST THINK OF IT AS A BLANKET UNDERNEATH THE ROAD, KEEPING IT INSULATED AND THEN THE TIRE TRACKS ON TOP OF IT. ALSO KEEPING IT WARM, EXPANDING SLIGHTLY FURTHER. YOU HAVE A BRIDGE AND THERE’S NOTHING INSULATING IT UNDERNEATH SO THAT COLDER AIR IS ABLE TO WRAP AROUND IT AND COOL THAT PAVEMENT TEMPERATURE DOWN. AND THAT’S OFTEN WHAT WE SEE IN SOME OF THOSE SLICK SPOTS THAT START TO DEVELOP. NOW, FOR TOMORROW, WE WILL HAVE OUR CREWS OU
