A 21-foot killer whale died after beaching itself on the Atlantic coast in central Florida on Wednesday, authorities stated.
The orca landed on a seashore in Palm Coast, Florida, situated greater than 60 miles south of Jacksonville, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release.
Crews from the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the sheriff’s workplace had been on hand to assist take away the carcass so {that a} necropsy might be carried out, Messod Bendayan, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s workplace, stated in an e mail.
Video posted by the sheriff’s workplace confirmed the orca laying on its aspect as waves splashed towards it.
