A canine was saved by firefighters after a fire ripped through an Ocala home Friday afternoon.

Firefighters have been dispatched to a home on fire on the 2800 block of SW seventeenth Circle round 2:42 p.m. When they arrived, a single-story home was on fire with smoke displaying from a entrance window, firefighters stated.

At first look, it appeared nobody was home.

Firefighters stated they knocked down the fire from the surface earlier than coming into the home through the entrance door.  They have been in a position to management the flames inside minutes, confining the fire to the room the place it began — the lounge.

During a secondary search, firefighters stated they discovered a canine hiding underneath a mattress. He was introduced outdoors safely.

The reason behind the fire is unknown. No one was injured within the fire.
