THE TWENTIES. COMING UP. BACK TO YOU, DAVID. A LOT OF PEOPLE WATCHING FOR THAT FOR MORE REASONS THAN ONE. THIS ONE, THE SNEEZING, THE WATERY EYES. IT IS THE SEASON FOR SNEEZE. AND WE ALL KNOW OKLAHOMA FALL ALLERGIES. NOT GREAT RIGHT NOW YET TO SAVE THE LEAST. METEOROLOGIST SABRINA BATES SPOKE WITH AN ALLERGIST TO FIND OUT IF THE WEATHER THAT WE’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW COULD GET RID OF ALL THOSE CHILLY OCTOBER MEANS THAT WE NEED TO BREAK OUT THE JACKETS. IT ALSO MEANS THAT WE COULD BE GETTING A BREAK FROM OUR FALL ALLERGIES. NOW IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW LOW THOSE TEMPERATURES DROP LATER THIS WEEK. IT’S BEEN A REALLY BUSY ALLERGY SEASON. FALL ALLERGIES ARE IN FULL SWING, SO RAGWEED AND MOLD ARE THE BIG ONES. TEMPERATURES NEED TO TURN COLD ENOUGH FOR THOSE OUTDOOR ALLERGENS TO DISAPPEAR. IT ALL JUST DEPENDS ON HOW HARD AND LONG THAT FREEZES. SO IF IT’S SEVERAL HOURS, YOU KNOW, AS YOU GUYS WOULD CLASSIFY A HARD FREEZE OR MAYBE EVEN A MODERATE FREEZE, THEN THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH TO KILL OFF SOME OF THE, YOU KNOW, THE RAG WEEDS IN THE OUTDOOR, OUTDOOR POLLENS THAT WE SEE. BUT THIS WEEK’S COLD ISN’T LASTING FOR LONG. AND BIG TEMPERATURE SWINGS CAN AFFECT US. YOU KNOW, IT MESSES WITH OUR ALLERGIES AND THEN IT MESSES WITH OUR ASTHMA, TOO. WHEN YOU SEE THOSE AIR PRESSURE CHANGES HAPPENING, BAROMETRIC PRESSURE CHANGES, IT REALLY CAN AFFECT US AS FAR AS OUR RHINITIS. SO THE CONGESTION THAT WE SEE IN OUR NOSE, EVEN WITH A BREAK FROM OUTDOOR FALL ALLERGIES, THE INDOOR ALLERGIES CAN BEGIN AND START TO BOTHER US, ESPECIALLY IF WE START TO SPEND MORE TIME INSIDE.
