Wildcats Head to Idaho to Compete in the NNU Thanksgiving Classic

ELLENSBURG, WASH. – Central Washington Men’s Basketball travels to compete in the NNU Thanksgiving Classic in Nampa, Idaho. The Wildcats will tackle Midwestern State (0-3) and Azusa Pacific (3-2).

“This will be another challenging weekend of games vs Midwestern State and Azusa Pacific down at Northwest Nazarene’s tournament. Midwestern is a very athletic team that plays a very good zone defense. Azusa Pacific was a National Tournament team last year and has solidified themselves as one of the top teams in the West Region early on.”

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS

Midwestern State University is at present 0-3 general. Two weeks in the past, the Mustangs misplaced to UC Colorado Springs 72-68. On the 17th, MSU fell to Northwestern Oklahoma, 67-64, in their residence opener. That night time, Derrick Ogechi led the Mustangs in scoring, placing up 16 factors. Malik Parsons led Northwestern Oklahoma to the victory posting 22 factors and 12 rebounds.

The Mustang’s main scorers are Pierre Sanders averaging 13 factors per sport and Derrick Ogechi averaging 10.7 factors per sport. Jermane Carter leads the crew in rebounding with 22 boards in three video games. Midwestern State University is 2-0 all-time towards the Wildcats. MSU is coming off of an in depth loss (67-64) towards Northwestern Oklahoma.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS

Azusa Pacific is 3-2 general this season, with two of their wins coming towards GNAC opponents. Last weekend the Cougars picked up wins towards Western Washington, 86-72, and Seattle Pacific, 77-70, at the GNAC/PacWest Challenge hosted by Azusa Pacific.

The Cougar’s main scorer is Ken West, averaging 16 factors a sport. In the final sport towards the Vikings West put up 17 factors. McKelary Robertson is averaging 11.2 factors per sport for

the Cougars. Justin Hemsley leads the crew on the glass with 25 rebounds. Azusa Pacific is 1-1 all-time towards the Crimson and Black. The Cougars look to come out of the Thanksgiving traditional with their successful file intact.

YOUR WILDCATS

CWU is at present 1-3 after splitting contests in California. The ‘Cats beat Thirteenth-ranked Cal State San Marcos 69-60. Central fell to Cal State Los Angeles 57-51 in a defensive battle. Camron McNeil leads the cats in scoring averaging 12.8 factors per sport. Colby Gennett is not far behind, averaging 9 factors per sport. Leading on the boards for the ‘Cats is Matt Poquette with 26 rebounds. The Wildcats search two wins to enhance their general file to .500.
