In 2019, over two dozen Texas congregations partnered with the nonprofit Just Texas: Faith Voices for Justice and declared their areas are Reproductive Freedom Congregations. This new classification was created as a primary step to unraveling the stigma surrounding reproductive health points inside religion communities.
Since then, these congregations have labored with their communities to present religious counsel and create applications that assist Texans access reproductive health care, together with abortions, each inside and outdoors of the state.
Now, almost two months after the Supreme Court launched its ruling for Dobbs v. Jackson, which ends the constitutional proper to an abortion by overturning Roe v. Wade, these religion communities are going through new challenges.
