Troopers seek driver blamed for crash that closed I-275 in Tampa for 5 hours

Troopers are looking for a driver who they are saying triggered a crash Wednesday night time that closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 275 in Tampa for greater than 5 hours and significantly injured one other motorist.

The crash occurred about 9 p.m. when the driver of a sedan heading south on I-275 close to Waters Avenue tried to vary lanes and collided with the passenger aspect of a tractor trailer, in accordance with the Florida Highway Patrol. The tractor trailer driver misplaced management and the truck overturned and caught hearth.

The sedan driver additionally misplaced management and the automotive struck a guardrail and overturned.

The driver of a southbound van was unable to cease in time and crashed into the overturned tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer driver, a 51-year-old Summerfield man, was taken to a neighborhood hospital to be handled for critical accidents.

That driver of the sedan and a passenger in the automotive ran away from the crash scene and haven’t been recognized.

No one in the van was injured.

Troopers closed the southbound lanes till about 2:30 a.m. to research the crash and clear the interstate.
