OUR COUNTIES HERE IN THE RIVER VALLEY NOW WE’RE LIVE IN FORT SMITH, ALL THE GREENWOOD ROAD ONE BIG CHALLENGE HERE IN THE CITY HAS BEEN FLOODED. ROADS COULD SEE SEVERAL CARS FLOODED OUT HERE, AN OLD GREEN ONE, WHICH IS ALSO HIGHWAY 45, RIGHT NEAR ZERO. IT’S A PROBLEM SPOT FOR THE CITY. THESE DRIVERS SAY THEY SIMPLY DID KNOW THE WATER WAS THAT HIGH UNTIL. IT WAS TOO LATE. NOW, WHAT CAUSED IT? TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VIDEO FROM VAN. SEVERAL CARS STALLED OUT AND POLICE TELL THAT IN TOTAL THEY DON’T HAVE EXACT NUMBERS, BUT THEY SAY EASILY THAN HALF A DOZEN SWIFT WATER RESCUES DRIVERS THAT WERE STALLED OUT AND HIGH WATER. FORTUNATELY, WE’VE NOT HAD REPORTS OF DRIVERS BEING INJURED. NOW, LET’S DO A QUICK RECAP AS FAR AS DAMAGE TO HOMES ACROSS THE RIVER VALLEY. WE’RE TOLD AND LE FLORE COUNTY AND ROLL THE COUNTY SOUTHERN LE FLORE COUNTY A PLACE CALLED WHOLE KNOB IN THAT COMMUNITY THAT TWO HOMES WERE DAMAGED THERE. ONE HAD A TREE ON TOP OF IT. THE MANAGER SAYS THE PART OF A ROOF WAS MISSING FROM ANOTHER HOME THERE. HERE IN SEBASTIAN COUNTY AROUND, THE MANSFIELD AREA, EMERGENCY MANAGERS TELL US THEY HAVE SEEN SOME HOMES, SOME MODERATE DAMAGE DUE TO TREES. BUT THE CREWS ARE OUT RIGHT NOW DOING. Powers strains had been knocked down outdoors of Heavener and Octavia, based on Dennis Yocum, emergency supervisor.Firefighters reported working two home fires, probably brought on by lightning strikes. One was in Poteau and one in the city of Leflore. No accidents had been reported.Emergency crews rescued drivers caught on flooded roads in Fort Smith.At least two houses in the Mansfield space had been broken, based on the Sebastian County emergency supervisor. One residence had a tree fall on it and one other misplaced half of its roof.One twister hit close to in or close to Mansfield.A twister was confirmed by the National Weather Service northeast of Honobia, shifting northeast at 50 miles per hour.
