MILWAUKEE — The TV restore store at ninth and Oklahoma has a wide-screen view of hazard.
For six years, restore technician Robert Higgins has seen nearly each episode.
“Quite a bit. Accidents, people gotten killed over there. Bus ran over a girl one day. I was here for all those events,” Higgins said.
Outside his door, up to 17,000 cars drive by every day.
Many of those drivers fly by at speeds well over the limit.
More often than is comfortable, Higgins said some of those drivers have crashed.
“Crashes in the midst of the road after which they take off. They do not even trade something they usually do not chase one another. They simply take off,” he mentioned.
Which is why the City of Milwaukee needs to make some adjustments to this avenue.
It is contemplating enter from individuals who stay and work right here to make Oklahoma Avenue a safer place to drive, stroll and bike.
That means folks like Greg Kroll have a voice in what the road in front of his home may appear to be in 2024.
Kroll has lived at ninth and Oklahoma all his life.
His front yard sits so shut to 4 lanes of dashing visitors that generally it winds up on his garden. And as soon as, a automobile landed on his front porch.
“I was home at the time. It was 10:30 at night,” Kroll said. “I assumed any person set a bomb by my home. I assumed a bomb went off. The cops advised me they estimated he was going 90 miles an hour.”

Now he plans to walk down the street and let them know what’s been on his mind for far too many years.
