Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan instructed native station WJXT there have been a “number of fatalities” from the incident, which precipitated a heavy police presence at the town’s westside.
Edward Water University issued a public protection alert alerting scholars to the shooting, which took place close to its campus. Students are being saved in their place of abode halls till the scene is cleared, the alert mentioned.

“This is a tragic moment. My heart is heavy,” Jacksonville Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman instructed ABC Jacksonville associate WJXX. “The people in this community, they’re hurting — and they have every right to. This makes no sense. I am very, very angry right now.”
“It’s unjust that we can’t even walk on the sidewalk because we’re not safe in any stores,” she persevered.
