New England Revolution sign Tommy McNamara to a contract extension


Tommy McNamara shouldn’t be going anyplace. The New England Revolution has signed the midfielder to a two-year contract extension, with an extra one-year membership choices by means of the 2025 Major League Soccer season. 

“Tommy is an invaluable member of our team,” head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena stated in a launch. 

“He is an intelligent and dependable player who has shown versatility in playing all positions in our midfield. We are thrilled that Tommy will remain a member of our team for many years to come.”

McNamara first arrived in 2020 via a trade with the Houston Dynamo, where he spent two seasons. The midfielder initiated his Major League Soccer career with Chivas USA in 2015, before transferring to New York City FC for the following four years.

Overall, he’s managed 19 goals and 26 assists in 192 regular-season games. 

“I’m very happy to continue my career here in New England and look forward to building on the progress we have made as a team these past two years,” McNamara, 31, said. “I am excited to remain a part of the Revolution and look forward to great years ahead with the club.”

The Revolution at present sit in sixth on the Eastern Conference desk with 24 factors in 17 and a report of 6W-5L-6D below head coach Bruce Arena. The crew returns to motion on Sunday vs. FC Cincinnati.
