Mark Fletcher commits to Hurricanes over Florida

The Hurricanes picked up a serious addition when a neighborhood star picked them over rival Florida.

American Heritage working again Mark Fletcher dedicated to Miami on Sunday after contemplating UM and UF, becoming a member of the Hurricanes’ highly-rated recruiting class.

Fletcher, who was beforehand dedicated to Ohio State, mentioned after American Heritage’s loss to Miami Central (and future teammate Rueben Bain) within the Class 2M state championship recreation that selecting between the Hurricanes and Gators was troublesome.

“I love both atmospheres,” Fletcher mentioned. “I love both coaching staffs. It’s a hard decision, seriously. You can’t go wrong. I could pick blindly, to be honest.”

The American Heritage star visited Miami’s Coral Gables campus over the weekend, trying to see if UM was the correct match for him.

“Just how it can benefit me in the future, how I can be developed, how they take care of me and my family, things of that nature,” Fletcher mentioned.

Fletcher was a dominant working again for the state runner-up Patriots. He racked up 1,934 yards and 23 touchdowns, averaging 8.6 yards per carry. He was the Sun Sentinel Broward County small schools player of the year as a sophomore.

Fletcher is the second working again in Miami’s class, becoming a member of fellow local standout Chris Johnson, who played for Dillard.
