AUSTIN — Mansfield Lake Ridge had to overcome an influence outage, an hour delay and a nationally ranked opponent if it needed to win a historic state championship Saturday evening.

But after Hoang bought the win towards Deer Park, permitting three earned runs whereas throwing 98 pitches in a whole game, Lake Ridge determined to begin Morris (14-5, 3.49 ERA) towards O’Connor.

Morris lasted just one inning as she was changed by Hoang after a leadoff double by O’Connor’s Ella Salinas in the underside of the second. Morris moved to first base after the pitching change.

The state title game featured two of the most effective leadoff hitters in the state — Oklahoma State pledge Tia Warsop of Lake Ridge and Texas signee Leighann Goode of O’Connor. After a throwing error on a stolen base allowed O’Connor to tie the rating, Goode adopted with an RBI single to give O’Connor a 4-3 lead.

Chance made probably the most of her large likelihood in the highest of the fifth, hitting a two-out, two-run single to give Lake Ridge a 5-4 lead. After Morris walked, Maggie Miller hit an RBI single to enhance the lead to 6-4.
