Man hits senior with ‘wet floor’ sign while trying to rob him at McDonald’s

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A person is going through a couple of criminal fees after Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies stated he wielded a “wet floor” sign as a weapon as he attempted to rob a senior who simply paid for breakfast at McDonald’s.

According to a BSO arrest record received via Local 10 News on Thursday, the incident came about Tuesday at the Golden Arches at 1490 NW thirty first Ave. in Pompano Beach.

The record states that the 66-year-old sufferer grew to become round with his pockets in his hand when Donnelle Antoine Gaines, 35, of Hollywood, “approached him, grabbed his arms and demanded his money.”

Deputies stated the sufferer broke loose and ran at the back of the counter.

At that time, BSO Detective Michael Avona wrote that Gaines “picked up a plastic wet floor sign that had a broken bottom, which created a jagged edge and pursued (the victim) behind the counter and swung it at him,” slicing the person within the forearm.

Gaines then took off from the eating place and deputies situated him strolling on Northwest thirty first Avenue, the record states.

The record states a deputy activated his cruiser lighting and ordered Gaines to prevent, however, as a substitute, the suspect ran away.

Deputies stuck up with Gaines and positioned him into custody, in accordance to BSO.

Gaines have been convicted in a prior battery case on Oct. 9, 2023, the record states.

Deputies arrested him on fees of armed theft, annoyed battery, battery on an individual 65 or older, battery 2nd or next offense and resisting arrest with out violence.

As of Thursday afternoon, Gaines remained within the BSO Main Jail on a $40,500 bond, prison data display.
