Florida discriminates against Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A bunch of Florida A&M University college students sued the state’s college system Thursday claiming the traditionally Black college is underfunded and topic of discriminatory practices in comparison with different state establishments.

The federal lawsuit filed in Tallahassee claims the state is violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by participating “in a pattern and practice of intentional discrimination … by maintaining a segregated system of higher education.”

The lawsuit mentioned the state takes years longer to finish infrastructure enhancements at FAMU than at non-historically Black faculties, duplicates applications at close by Florida State University that discourage attendance at FAMU, does not present sufficient sources for pupil recruitment and retention and does not do sufficient to recruit and retain a various school and workers.

The state college system didn’t instantly reply to an electronic mail in search of remark from The Associated Press.
