Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody stated this might be the scariest Halloween of her lifetime — that’s the reason she’s warning families to be careful for candy tainted with the lethal drug fentanyl.

Moody stated legislation enforcement companies are seeing a rise in candies designed to draw kids.

The DEA not too long ago seized12,000 fentanyl tablets in standard Halloween candy packages on the Los Angeles airport and roughly 15,000 colored-fentanyl tablets in Nerds candy containers and Skittles candy luggage.

“I have no doubt that the cartels are trying to purposefully target children at a younger and younger age to get them addicted, which will ensure consistent profits,” Moody stated.

News4JAX reported on the current “rainbow fentanyl” trend — and whereas there haven’t been any circumstances of tainted Halloween candy in Florida, Moody is urging dad and mom to watch out.

A mom can be encouraging folks via a bunch she fashioned referred to as “Blue Plaid Society.”

Suzy Pereira fashioned this group after she misplaced her son Tristan Wells who was simply 26-year-old when he died from fentanyl in November 2021.

“Our goal is to not incite panic about trick-or-treating,” Pereira stated. “It’s merely to be a reminder to remain vigilant in the protection of your children.”

It is recommended that folks ought to throw away any candy that has already been opened or appears to have been tampered with.
