A high-speed crash involving race driver Keith Kassulke has curtailed Friday’s closing Bathurst 12-Hour practice session after his automotive smashed into the tyre boundaries.

Kassulke’s MARC II V8 was left the other way up after exiting the Mount Panorama monitor at The Chase and careening into the boundaries after the session’s halfway level.

In a press release, Supercars officers mentioned Kassulke, who was taken to the medical centre for checks, was ‘was aware all through, speaking with the restoration groups and suffered no main accidents’.

‘The session was purple flagged and was not restarted due to the harm brought about to the tyre wall following the impression,’ they mentioned.

Kassulke’s automotive had approached the nook at velocity after the Conrod straight and went over the apex, propelling all 4 wheels off the bottom, and into the sand lure before hitting the tyre wall.

Earlier on Friday, two-time Bathurst winner Chaz Mostert and Moto GP legend Valentino Rossi topped the opening two practice periods before defending champion Kenny Habul headed the third.

The seven-time premier class bike world champion was given dispensation to get behind the wheel of the Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 for the second 40-minute session, which had been put aside for Bronze-ranked drivers. 

Drivers have two extra practice periods on Saturday adopted by qualifying and top-10 shootouts, before Sunday’s race.
