ARROWSIC, Maine — Eleven other folks had been hurt when a walkway collapsed during an annual event that encourages excursions of Maine lighthouses.

The wood walkway collapsed at Doubling Point Lighthouse in Arrowsic on Saturday. The lighthouse was once open to the general public as a part of Maine Open Lighthouse Day, which is an afternoon when the state’s scenic lighthouses are open to the general public.

Authorities stated 5 of the 11 injured other folks had been taken to hospitals. The lighthouse has stood because the past due nineteenth century and is situated at the Kennebec River.

The lighthouse is closed to the general public on Sunday, stated Karen McLean, a member of the Friends of Doubling Point Light. McLean stated the gang intends to fix the lighthouse, however there is not any time-frame to do this but.
