Two police officers had been shot Thursday evening in an ambush in the town of Rochester in western New York and one among them died, authorities stated. Police Chief David Smith introduced the officer’s dying throughout a press convention Friday morning.

Both had been hospitalized. The different officer was handled for his wounds and is recovering at residence, Smith stated.

“This is a tragedy for our community. I’m asking Rochester to pray for these officers and their families,” Mayor Malik Evans advised reporters close to the scene of the taking pictures.

The officers had been wounded at round 9:15 p.m., based on Rochester police Lt. Gregory Bello, a division spokesman.

“They were doing their jobs as police officers, and at least one male approached them and opened fire on them,” Bello stated.
